'James' - Available now on Distrify

I'm toying with new distribution methods, so as well as buying the DVD (which includes a full HD download) I am making my film available for rental through Distrify. What intrigues me about this service is the social aspect as it has Facebook, Twitter and email sharing built in and everyone who shares with Distrify earns a cut of the profits.

I recommend this service for any independent filmmaker as a great way to get your work out there, and get some rewards for your hard work.

Buy 'James' on DVD and receive free HD download

For a while now i've been selling 'James' on DVD in response to my audience and their desire to support my work and also to have a physical copy of the film. As a filmmaker it's wonderful having such a positive response to my work, and it is my aim to provide the best possible experience to those who pay for it.

Whilst it is possible to dig around the deepest and darkest areas of the internet to find my film online, in every case the quality of the video and audio is dreadful, and is in no way a reflection of the care and attention that has gone into the award winning cinematography and writing, and reflects poorly on everyone who worked on the film.

I recognise that piracy is a problem for a lot of content creators especially when it comes to lost revenues, but I didn't make 'James' to get rich. It's more important to me that my audience gets the best experience possible. I am now including a link to a full resolution uncompressed HD version of the film with every purchase on DVD, which will be DRM free, meaning it can be played on any digital device at no extra cost.

Once I receive an order I will email a link to download via Dropbox

Countertransference - A short film by Madeleine Olnek

I'll soon be posting a review of 'Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same' - in the meantime I would like to share one of my all time favourite short films from the same director.

Countertransference is about a lonely woman with assertiveness who issues finds her problems multiplied in therapy.

Programmer's Note: 'Countertransference,' Madeleine Olnek's second Sundance Film Festival entry (she debuted in Park City with the short film 'Hold Up' in 2006) shows how her background as a playwright has enabled her to harness stellar performances (most notably Deb Margolin as the lead) and deliver a script textured with both hilarity and depth. Overcoming some challenges on set - like an equipment truck hitting a parked car and causing $1,400 worth of damage - the fearless director put together what was one of this year's most hysterical productions. Olnek returns to the Festival this year with her feature 'Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same' which shows her universal appeal for laughs and language, and proves that you don't need a ton of dough to make a proper science-fiction fantasy.
